Matthew Ruehlman
Bio & Expertise: Matthew is a Northwestern University grad who scored a 34 on his ACT. 7 years of tutoring experience has taught him that tutoring is so much more than raising a test score - it's about busting through students' limiting beliefs about their own capabilities so we can raise confident and growth oriented adults.
Matthew's students often struggle with so many of the demons we all face in high school – comparison traps, planning skills, general self doubt, and he help students bust through all sorts of barriers like this while also getting scores up. Usually, he finds students actually have all the skills they need to be successful – they often just need someone to help them realize what they can already do. It's how Zane went from a 23 to a 33 on the ACT. It's so Zoe got a perfect score on the reading section. And it's all joyful.
Matthew has 4,000+ hours of tutoring experience, and have worked extensively with students with various learning differences and IEPs.
Fun Fact: I still have my fifth grade English teacher's preposition song memorized.
