Henry Faber
Bio & Expertise: Head boy of Eton College and graduate of Oxford University, Henry took inspiration from his father’s role as headmaster of a prestigious UK middle school in ideating and setting up Oppidan Education in 2016 with his childhood friend Walter.
Initiated as an antidote to the pressures of the test prep market, Oppidan’s success has been rooted in a practical, innovative, research-driven approach to mentoring, in partnership with globally-respected teachers and educationalists. If adults have mentors, then kids should too, and Oppidan has sought to formalise and develop the role of a mentor in a child’s life, in the knowledge that great personal development leads to great academic outcomes.
Over a decade working in partnership with the world’s top schools and in supporting thousands of students through their progression to selective institutions, Henry was recognised as a Forbes 30 Under 30 founder for social entrepreneurship and is a winner of the Great British Entrepreneurship and Education Investor Awards.
Brought up with one foot in the United States thanks to an American stepfather, Henry is passionate about championing educational excellence and the role of mentorship in all parts of the world. Oppidan now has a presence in New York, London, Dubai, Bangkok and Seoul.
Fun Fact: Alongside running Oppidan Education in the daytime, I spent 15 months in 2021-22 moonlighting on the West End in Olivier-nominated Bob Marley Musical, ‘Get Up Stand Up’. Treasured and hard-fought reggae song and dance skills have since faded fast.
