Dr. Robert Kohen

Bio & Expertise: As a college admissions consultant, Dr. Kohen helps students arrive at a deeper understanding of their authentic interests, values and goals, aids them in finding best fit colleges, and supports them as they prepare authentic and impactful applications. He loves helping students get in touch with what excites them and then supporting them in bringing those interests to life, both in high school and beyond. He visits around 10-20 colleges each year and regularly speaks with admissions officers to learn about the latest trends in admissions.

Through his individualized tutoring, he also helps students improve their SAT, ACT, ISEE and SSAT scores. He has extensive experience identifying areas for growth, simplifying difficult material, building study skills, motivating students, easing anxiety and instilling confidence.

He holds a Certificate in College Admissions and Career Planning from UC Berkeley and has worked in highly selective college admissions, having evaluated applications for Northeastern University. He has also completed graduate coursework in instructional strategies for executive functioning, learning differences, ADHD and ASD from Landmark College. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University, where he was recognized with distinction by the Dean of Harvard College for his teaching, and he has also taught at The Dalton School. He formerly worked as an application essay coach at Prep for Prep, the nation's premier program for placing gifted students of color in highly selective private schools.

Dr. Kohen has been quoted in US News & World Report, Forbes, New York Post, Business Insider and various other outlets. He is a member of the Higher Education Consultants Association, the National Association for College Admission Counseling, the International Association for College Admission Counseling, the National Test Prep Association, and a Professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association.
