Christine Beavers

Bio & Expertise: Christine Beavers, PT, DPT is a licensed pediatric physical therapist and founder of Growing Gains Therapy, a boutique private practice offering physical, occupational, and speech therapy services to children and families throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. Christine earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and has worked in pediatric settings in New York City since 2018, including several years at the Cooke School working with students with cognitive and developmental disabilities.

Christine specializes in helping children master fundamental movement skills through real-world, functional practice. Rather than limiting sessions to clinical settings, she meets children where they actually need support: navigating subway stairs, keeping up with family on busy sidewalks, managing playground equipment at their local park, or building endurance during trips to the botanical gardens or zoo. This approach ensures skills translate directly to children's daily lives in New York City.

Christine works with children of all abilities, from those reaching early developmental milestones to older children catching up to peers. With extensive experience supporting neurodivergent children, including autistic children and those with sensory processing or motor planning differences, she uses a neuroaffirming, play-based approach tailored to each child's abilities, learning style, and goals. Her sessions focus on building both physical skills and confidence in the settings that matter most to each family.

Fun Fact: Before becoming a physical therapist, Christine spent five years working as a landman in the oil and gas industry. If you've seen the Billy Bob Thornton show, you know how different that world is from pediatric therapy!
