Bio & Expertise: Achyut Joshi is a dedicated math educator with over 20 years of experience helping students build confidence, mastery, and independence in mathematics. He graduated cum laude from Duke University and holds a Master’s degree in Math Adolescent Education from Hunter College (CUNY).

Achyut’s love for teaching was apparent early on—he often helped friends prepare for math exams, and their consistently positive feedback confirmed his natural ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively. He went on to teach math in the classroom for over 10 years, most recently at Trinity School in Manhattan, where he taught Upper School math. Since 2014, he has focused on private tutoring, working one-on-one with students across a wide range of levels.

His teaching style is personable, caring, and straightforward with a particular knack for meeting students where they are. He is able to demystify even the most challenging topics in the high school math curriculum and teach them in a way that makes sense to the average student. He excels at building strong connections with students and adapting his approach to each learner’s needs. In addition to academic math support, he also tutors for the ACT/SAT tests.

Achyut also enjoys working with middle school students, helping them develop strong arithmetic foundations and number sense that support their long-term success in math. Committed to his students’ progress, he is always easy to reach by phone or text to answer questions that come up between sessions.
